Q: Is that what all great radio shows share, that forward momentum?Ī: It’s something all stories share. You need forward motion of a plot and someone who you want to hear what happens to them. I do think everyone has a story to tell but everyone does not have a story to tell on the radio. We’re constantly running up things and killing them. My workweek is a testament to the fact that most things aren’t interesting enough to be on the radio. Q: What makes a good podcast? Can any story be molded into quality radio or podcast material?Ī: Oh, no, of course not. The radio has stayed steady, but the podcast audience, which started off as nothing, sort of overtook it. We crossed over two years ago and now we have 3 million people listening to each episode as podcast, and 2.2 million listening as radio. The majority of the “This American Life” audience is listening via podcast. They don’t realize there’s this app and you just click a button and it pulls up 10 podcasts.Ī: I do think that’s changing. But I’m not finding people who are like, “I hate stories.” I think a lot of people who aren’t into podcasts have a technological aversion to it. Q: What do you say to those people who aren’t listening to podcasts?Ī: If you aren’t listening to podcasts, you shouldn’t feel uncool you are the solid majority. (Photo by Andy Kropa/Invision/AP) ORG XMIT: INVW Ira Glass attends the premiere of Hulu's "Shrill" at the Walter Reade Theater on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, in New York. Partly because not enough people have even heard a podcast. Still, I don’t think it’s a thing where in a year or two the bubble will burst. There’s, what, 600,000-700,000 podcasts on iTunes right now? And on the business side, do I think people will get to a saturation point and feel sick of it? Yes, I do. Q: Whenever something gets big quickly, people start using the word “bubble.” Do you believe there’s a podcast bubble about to burst?Ī: It depends on what you mean by “bubble.” I think there are two things: the business side and in people’s hearts. The conversation has been lightly edited for length. We caught up with the public radio star to ask what podcasts he’s listening to and where the medium’s future lies. His “7 Things I’ve Learned” solo show lands Saturday at the State Theatre, featuring what Glass called “a bunch of stories I tell for people’s amusement.” Since launching “This American Life” in 1995, Glass, 60, also took to hosting events outside the studio, putting a face to voice and building on the program’s cult following. His signature storytelling approach - candid, narrative, sometimes startlingly intimate - inspired a generation of podcasters working across genres and styles. Ira Glass, host of the hit public radio show “This American Life,” is a founding father of the modern podcast movement.

It was originally written by one of the hb devs as a side project to mux subtitles into mp4's. however ritsuka has expanded it way beyond that to handle quite a bit of you're common tagging needs and now can actually mux tracks right from an mkv into mp4 ( though it still a bit experimental ). Subler uses the same mp4 muxer mp4v2 and is extremely fast and stable. As far as automatically searching for meta info, its a no go. The mac version of metax ( in fact the original ) was written by Rodney Kerstetter and was heavily developed around HB 0.9.2 and 0.9.3 and used a modded version of Atomic Parsley to write the tags. However since then Amazon changed it api for scraping for info. Kerstetter has yet to resurface to update the mac version of metax. Meanwhile Dan Hinsley created a windows version of metaX and has kept it up to date. Among other things he modified it to use HB and Sublers libmp4v2 for tagging and also adapted it to handle the new Amazon api for scraping info. Until then it a bit of a manual affair and afaic Subler is the best choice. The industry-standard animation and creative compositing app lets youĭesign and deliver professional motion graphics and visual effects for In the mac world we all await kerstetters return to update the original metax for mac.
It is an absolute waste of time and takes away freedom from students and causes them to experience anger, frustration, and depression. NoRedInk stresses kids out more than you might think. I thought I knew what students valued in a Remind alert, but I'm still learning. NoRedInk is an awful program, and schools simply don't care. Some teachers will assign things that take 2 hours and the kids get really frustrated. NoRedInk NoRedInk helps millions of students in grades 4-12 become better writers. And they are not looking.in large numbers. ago I love it Be aware of the estimated time it takes to complete. I know this because Remind lets you see which subscribers actually open an attachment (document, image) you send along with the text. Remind alerts so conveniently pop up on their phones as SMS messages or notifications, but I'm still competing to get students' attention. Turns out students (after my 1,000th message over three years) may be swiping those away, too. NoRedInk, NoRedInk provides differentiated, adaptive, and engaging. We thought that sending texts to their smartphones, even in a safe, easy way like Remind, would keep them informed of upcoming events, club meetings, assignments, and schedule changes. Kaizena, Kaizena is a free app for educators to provide verbal feedback for student. This is more a problem with students than with the software. Cons: Every once in a great while, a student claims that they dont like any of the choices NoRedInk offers for content. We thought they read the announcements or the daily bulletin. With just a few clicks, the student is set up to practice writing and grammar in the context of their favorite bands, sports teams, and TV shows. Noredink is fundamentally flawed in its teaching style. Students do not like Noredink, but American educators do not seem to care. This program just contributes to America’s education blunders. Students score drops for wrong answers but points build up when additional questions are answered correctly. Each worksheet includes a lesson, practice questions, and a writing or revising task asking students to apply the skill they’ve learned. Our middle school English department uses No Red Ink to teach grammar items that require student to manipulate the sentences due to the technology enhanced questions. (Or at least not thoroughly.) We thought they read the e-newsletter. Noredink consists of sitting on a computer and blindly attempting grammar questions. We’ve created 20 printable worksheets that cover our most popular skills and can be used in place of a Practice assignment on NoRedInk. They'll ignore it (sometimes) if a teacher made itīelieve it or not, I think I found a way to make students ignore yet another stream of communication coming from adults and teachers. If you have cool undertones, your skin may have a bluish or pinkish hue. If you have warm undertones, your skin may have a yellow, golden, or peachy hue. Most people fall into one of three categories: warm, cool, or neutral. Undertones refer to the subtle hue beneath the surface of our skin, which affects how the skin looks, the colors that flatter it, and the makeup colors that complement it. Stonehenge Decoded: Secrets Revealed will transport us back 4,500 years to the world of Stonehenge and Pommelte and put the last 10 years of science and discovery into focus. In this UPDATE, we will use interviews, archive footage and original filming to reveal new discoveries and provide insight into these archaeological mysteries. The ritual use of this site and its dates connect it to Stonehenge and other Neolithic circles in Britain. This find suggests that this site was used for ritual sacrifices. Boris Johnson has been given the findings of an MP-led investigation into whether he misled parliament over Partygate. June 2018 - At the German Stonehenge-Pommelte site, archaeologist unearthed the dismembered remains of more than 20 men, women and children. As Alberge reports in a separate Guardian article, the findings have sparked renewed criticism of a plan to build a road tunnel through Stonehenge’s landscape, suggesting archaeological sites. And recent discoveries at Stonehenge and other Neolithic sites may have finally proved his theory. Professor Pearson believed at the time that Stonehenge was not a temple to the Sun or prehistoric Gods, but a great monument dedicated to the ancestors of these Stone Age people, built to house the spirits of the dead. And at its center stood an extraordinary near replica of Stonehenge itself, built not in stone but wood. Within this complex they discovered remains of the largest prehistoric settlement in northern Europe. Professor Mike Parker Pearson and his team unearthed evidence that reveals Stonehenge may not have stood in isolation but was part of one of the largest prehistoric religious complexes in the world. Octoby Patricia Smith History Who Built Stonehenge A New Study Reveals It Was A Community Effort A new study has revealed that the ancient monument of Stonehenge was built by a community of people from all over Britain, and not just by a local tribe as was previously thought. In the early Bronze Age many burial mounds were built nearby. Surveys have produced detailed maps of the practice trenches. It was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. In the year marking the centenary of the First World War, the new Stonehenge map even impacts on our knowledge of that momentous event. Medieval legend said it was the work of the wizard Merlin. Stonehenge first stood in Wales: how archaeologists proved parts of the 5,000 year-old stone circle were imported Why Aotearoa New Zealands early Polynesian. Stonehenge is perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. There were many disputed theories about this giant stone circle: the Romans imagined a temple to the sun god Apollo. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. Stonehenge Decoded (2009) exposed the puzzle that is Stonehenge. 30 April 2021 There are 1000 ancient monuments across one region of Saudi Arabia AAKSA and Royal Commission for AlUla A vast site in north-west Saudi Arabia is home to 1000 structures that date. use crossed polarizers - one on the lights in one direction, one on the lens in the opposite direction. You can play with the positions of the two lights to eliminate the texture. The best thing you can do is to put it on a copy stand with two lights on goosenecks and re-shoot with a good digital camera. Hey, what does it cost to try, right? If it works for you, tell your friends.ĭo you still have access to the original photos? I also think this process may help reduce subsequent destructive filtering for random textures such as light scratches. I was able to further clear things up a tiny bit by copy-pasting the "Difference" between the two aligned scans into a new Difference level at about 10% opacity, but I've never been brilliant at those level filters at the bottom of the list. But the big plus is that it DOESN'T remove any information from the photo, providing a much cleaner baseline which should require less-destructive settings in subsequent filtering. maybe 2 more scans at 90 and 270 degrees added to the mix would do more. Blending two such scans together cancels out most of the texture this way. This technique comes from observing that the highlights and shadows of the photo paper texture are largely reversed when scanned from the opposite direction. Assign second scan 50% opacity to blend images together.Auto-Align Layers using Photoshop command.Import it as a layer on top of the first scan.In Photoshop, un-rotate the second scan.Rotate the photo 180% on the scanner and scan again. If you know some scripting or programming you could impose this elimination pattern automatically on an entire set. If you have the original image window selected, you'll get an error saying "Frequency domain image required".)Īnd if you can do this at higher resolution than you need, you can downsize the image with lanczos resampling for an even better result: (Note: You need to have the FFT image window selected when you try to do the inverse FFT. If you overdo it, you will get banding around the edges and borders. Make the black points big enough but not too big (play around with it). Use the paintbrush to eliminate the other stars. Now, don't remove the center point as that is the "DC" value. This is the pattern to recognize when you open the image again, and do FFT on the whole thing: Then select the part that's only white with texture. The parts you need are:įirst, load your image. It has seen that scribes after attaining medical experience and becoming familiar with the terminologies select the field of doctor or join the medicine as profession. Scribing not only benefits physicians but also improves the quality of life of scribes by providing them experience to excel in the medical field. Scribes have a great impact on income generation, decreasing the work-related stress of the physicians and workstation contentment. Researches reveal that scribes play a promising role in the healthcare department in many aspects such as improving patient care by facilitating the physicians and reducing their work load. Scribe must deal with the stress causing factors of the clinician like slow working of laptop due to workload and arranging the tasks on priority basis. The other valuable duties of a scribe include reminding the nurses that patient is ready for medication, managing the patients flow and responding the other messages when clinician is busy. While working on EHR scribe should be able to proficiently arrange the accumulated patient data and should effectively handle the record. While completing a chart he must be able to accurately write the symptoms, lab findings, values, and tests. Scribes working in educational institution must be aware of dealing with the medical students, fellows and teamwork.Ī scribe must be aware of the fact that effective patient care is directly related to the good relationship of scribe with other healthcare providers including nurses, pharmacist, paramedics etc.Īlthough, scribe is not responsible of direct decision making but working in the shadowing of physician must enable him to understand the logic of medical decisions, terminologies of medical field and other enumerable aspects related to the field. It is essential for a medical scribe to gain clinical experience during his work. They must write to the point information so that a physician can easily overview the details during his busy shift including filling the procedure, rechecks needed and time needed for critical care. While filling a patient chart a scribe must be aware and trained of coding and billing requirements. In addition, recording the data that when consultants were called back, re-examination data findings, gathering information from the support staff and providing it to the physician in an emergency department (ED).Ī scribe must also be aware of the issues related to the documentation regarding which symptom or history should be included or excluded from the document. In an emergency department (maintaining medical records, documenting patient discharge information, writing doctor’s excuse notes, composing the prescriptions and then signed by physician). Writing referral or other types of letters for correlation. Transformation or translation of the physician’s dictation from Dictaphones and then recording them into EHR. Recording the patient’s answers given to the physician regarding the diet and exercise as well as the mandatory lab tests and values. The main responsibility of a scribe is to maintain the electronic health record (EHR) system by entering each patient’s data (medical historyĪnother responsibility is to write the History of present illness (HPI) by observing the patient’s medical record and interactions. Some common and major responsibilities of scribe are listed below Testing and inspection shall occur on a Business Day.
