NoRedInk stresses kids out more than you might think. I thought I knew what students valued in a Remind alert, but I'm still learning. NoRedInk is an awful program, and schools simply don't care. Some teachers will assign things that take 2 hours and the kids get really frustrated. NoRedInk NoRedInk helps millions of students in grades 4-12 become better writers. I know this because Remind lets you see which subscribers actually open an attachment (document, image) you send along with the text. Remind alerts so conveniently pop up on their phones as SMS messages or notifications, but I'm still competing to get students' attention. Turns out students (after my 1,000th message over three years) may be swiping those away, too. NoRedInk, NoRedInk provides differentiated, adaptive, and engaging. We thought that sending texts to their smartphones, even in a safe, easy way like Remind, would keep them informed of upcoming events, club meetings, assignments, and schedule changes. Kaizena, Kaizena is a free app for educators to provide verbal feedback for student. This is more a problem with students than with the software. Cons: Every once in a great while, a student claims that they dont like any of the choices NoRedInk offers for content. We thought they read the announcements or the daily bulletin. With just a few clicks, the student is set up to practice writing and grammar in the context of their favorite bands, sports teams, and TV shows. ![]() ![]() Noredink is fundamentally flawed in its teaching style. Students do not like Noredink, but American educators do not seem to care. This program just contributes to America’s education blunders. Students score drops for wrong answers but points build up when additional questions are answered correctly. Each worksheet includes a lesson, practice questions, and a writing or revising task asking students to apply the skill they’ve learned. Our middle school English department uses No Red Ink to teach grammar items that require student to manipulate the sentences due to the technology enhanced questions. (Or at least not thoroughly.) We thought they read the e-newsletter. Noredink consists of sitting on a computer and blindly attempting grammar questions. We’ve created 20 printable worksheets that cover our most popular skills and can be used in place of a Practice assignment on NoRedInk. They'll ignore it (sometimes) if a teacher made itīelieve it or not, I think I found a way to make students ignore yet another stream of communication coming from adults and teachers. ![]()
